Michel Ogier is a relative newcomer to the top league of Rhone producers, but has cemented his excellent reputation prior to handing over to his son, Stèphane. In the past, the entire harvest was sold to larger companies such as Guigal and Chapoutier, but in 1980 the family decided to make wine in their own name. Stèphane puts a greater focus on single vineyard expression. Stylistically, the wines of Ogier tend to lean towards finesse and elegance rather on broad structure and power – as is the case for some producers in the area.
