Poorly adherent, brittle or flaking paint, cement laitance and other weakly adherent or non-cohesive elements must be removed. Sikaflex 11 FC Evolution adheres without primer or activator. However, for optimum adhesion and high-performance applications such as in renovation work, heavily stressed joints, joints exposed to the weather and in joints temporarily immersed in water, primers and degreasing agents and surface preparations. APPLICATION Install the cartridge in a manual, pneumatic or electric gun. For ease of use, the mastic glue should be at a temperature of approx. +20C. For proper curing of the mastic glue, a moist environment is necessary. Grouting The width of a joint must be defined in accordance with the required joint movement and the movement capacity of the sealant. All joints must be properly designed and dimensioned in accordance with the relevant standards before construction. The parameters for calculating the necessary joint widths are the type of building and its dimensions, the technical data of the building materials adjacent to the joint and the sealant joint, plus the specific exposure of the building and the joints. The dimensioning of the joints must comply with DTU 44.1 (NFP 85-210-1). Do not make joints less than 5 mm and more than 20 mm wide. Use a Sika FASTENERS, applied with a non-sharp tool to avoid damaging the surface. Apply the mastic adhesive in a continuous joint and in one or more passes depending on the width of the joint, avoiding any air inclusion. Tighten the sealant adhesive against the supports and smooth it with a spatula moistened with Sika TOOLING AGENT N before skin formation. For wider joints, consult technical service. Collage Apply a cylindrical bead of glue 5 mm in diameter to one of the prepared substrates at intervals of several centimetres. If necessary, start again regularly with a notched spatula. Press or tap the assembled parts firmly to allow good adhesion before a skin forms. The thickness of the mastic glue layer depends on the regularity of the substrate and must be less than 3 mm. If necessary, use double-sided adhesive or shims or clamps to hold the assembled elements together. An incorrectly positioned element can be easily adjusted within 5 minutes of Application. Press again. Any fresh, uncured mastic adhesive remaining on a surface must be removed immediately. The final strength will be obtained after complete curing of Sikaflex 11 FC Evolution. Use Sika products with care. Before use, please consult the manufacturer's product manual available on the sika.com website.
