The substrate must be strong enough to withstand the stresses induced by the sealant during movement. Cleaning techniques such as brushing, grinding, sanding or other appropriate mechanical tools may be used. All dust, loose and friable materials must be completely removed from all surfaces prior to the application of activators, primers or sealant adhesive. For optimum adhesion, joint strength and performance applications, the following primers, degreasers and surface preparations should be used :
